The journey will take me from my home in Somerset, down to Portsmouth, catch the Ferry to Caen, through Tuscany and on to Perugia.
I will be sleeping roadside in a tent each night, or as bike tourers call it - Stealth Camping
My Gear
Most importantly, my loyal trusty steed for my tour is a Giant Defy 5.Although, I admit, it isn't a pure breed tourer, I have researched a great deal and for my price bracket (£300-£500) it should live up to my needs.
I am yet to buy panniers and a rear rack, so feel free to comment any suggestions you have that you recommend i do or do not purchase.
Food wise, I hope to buy supplies from local shops and supermarkets (or 'stockmarches' if my year 9 French serves me correctly). I will take, and am prepared to use water purification tablets, if I stray far away from any towns/villages.
